FAQ for AlcoBloc™

How much does it cost?

- Pricing depends on the User Level Subscription, please contact sales@alcobloc.com for more information

How does it work?

- Simply purchase an AlcoBloc™ Kit (Basic or Full) and download the app on the phone that will be connecting to the lock via Bluetooth. Once the app is downloaded, secure the equipment, vehicle, storage unit, etc. you wish to prevent access to. If Full Kit is purchased, a tamper proof cable is provided to better secure large equipment. The Bluetooth lock provided in the Kit will only open once the portable breath tester (PBT) provides a NEGATIVE breath test.

What is the difference between a Full and Basic Kit?

- Not everyone wants or needs a 4 ft. cable to secure their property, so YATAG Security allows you the flexibility to purchase a Kit with or without this tamper proof cable.

Why are there different License Levels?

- Every end user is different and at YATAG Security we want to make sure you get the information you need and not have to pay for something you don’t.

What are the different License Levels and benefits?

1. Basic Level is for the general consumer who needs only one app download to secure one vehicle, storage cabinet, etc., plus basic reporting on all tests taken.

2. Intermediate Level is for the small business owner who also needs only one kit and app download but wants access to upgraded reports.

3. Advanced Level is for large businesses that need to secure multiple vehicles, busses, hardware, etc. and have multiple employees who need the AlcoBloc™ app downloaded on their individual Smartphones. The Administrator has access to advanced reports, data server operations and data storage with this level.

Can I upgrade my level?

- Yes

Can I use this only on cars?

- NO, the device can be attached to any device, item, vehicle, motorcycle, storage cabinet etc. that you wish. Just attach the tamper proof cable to the item so it becomes inaccessible for use then secure with the provided padlock. Until an alcohol breath test with Negative results is taken, the lock will not open.

Is this device hard wired into the car?

- No! That is the benefit of AlcoBloc™. Current devices on the market, referred to as ‘interlocks’ are physically hard wired into the car ignition. This intrusion into your vehicle not only makes it difficult for those not being monitored to utilize the device, it is also costly. With these standard interlocks you do not own the devices and you must take your car in monthly for maintenance, another out of pocket expense. With the flexible and economical AlcoBloc™ Safety device (patent pending) you own the equipment, you do not rent it like all the other devices out there.

Do I need to take it in for monthly servicing like the current interlocks?

- No, these devices do not need monthly servicing however the portable tester does need calibration per the manufacturer’s suggestion & requirements.

Can more than one person use this device?

- While the portable tester does come with mouthpieces, for reasons of hygiene it is recommended that each person have their own tester with the professional levels. Family members can share the portable tester when purchasing the Basic Level, if desired.

Can I purchase a portable tester or lock off the internet from a third party?

- Only the portable devices, the Bluetooth breath tester and Bluetooth padlock, purchased from YATAG Security will work with the app since they have to be synced via the factory. If you need additional accessories, please contact sales@yatagsecurity.com. Or if you have purchased already, log into your account and purchase online.

How do I know who is using the device?

- Because AlcoBloc™ provides the designated Administrator (parent, company manager, HR Dept. etc.) with the test results along with a photo ID of the person taking the test, the confirmation of the subject is provided.

Is internet connection required?

- In order to access and log into the app, to find your approved devices and to have the results reported to the data server, internet connection is strongly recommended. The equipment will work offline for only a limited time. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you apply the lock in areas where you know you have internet connection.

What’s BAC?

- The term Breath Alcohol Content (BAC) is the term used in North American testing, however, AlcoBloc™ is able to be converted to many other units of measure that are used around the world via the AlcoBloc™ Data Server.

Is AlcoBloc™ Available in other Languages?

- Currently English and Spanish are available however, there is an user friendly Quick Start Guide which can easily be translated into any language. But if a specific language is needed on the step by step Smartphone app, this is available, please contact info@yatagsecurity.com

How do I maintain the equipment?

- For better performance, keep the portable tester in the cushioned bag provided and maintain hygiene to prevent contamination.
